Angelwing Campaign: Angelwing One

When loss has won, may it be
It's you I'm madly fighting for
When kingdom comes, may it be
We walk right through that open door

-Now that we're Dead, by Metallica

As the War Against the Wizard raged into its fourth year, a new enemy emerged which changed everything.  It struck as a thunderbolt.  Old enemies put aside their conflict and turned to face this new, and unspeakably horrific foe.

Abandoned were the old, slow, inept warmachines and into the blazing cauldron of flaming carnage plunged new engines of death.  The Loamhedge Kingdom pushed a new type of fighter to the front lines, one which was to become so iconic and so linked to the conflict that the war was named after it: Angelwing.

Welcome back!  A long hiatus, to be sure.  The next campaign will not launch for some time - expect no earlier than 2022.  It will be a truly incredible spectacle, a theater filled with endless surges of red carnage.

This will be a sea, sky and land campaign.  New war machines will be created for all sides.  Over the coming months, we will be previewing these new, awesome engines of death.
First amongst them is Angelwing One.  Unlike previous aircraft, this one is a true fighter.  A 1940's fighter reborn.  The biplanes, ornithopters and air screws will remain for this campaign - but expect to see faster, more powerful units.

Angelwings were the iconic fighters of the war.  Fast, powerful up close and at a distance.  They were protected by energy shields and armed with accurate, deadly cannons that fired at a ferocious rate.
The model is a Trumpeter, WWII era Mig-3 with additional 40K armaments.  Like most of my planes, it can be removed from the stand; the landing gear, canopy and the pilot are magnetized and removable.

Angelwings were ferocious opponents, armed with dual heavy stubbers and dual autocannons - all optimized for especially high rate of fire.

Aelves of the Viridian Corsairs were often Angelwing pilots due to their ferocity and fast reflexes.
