Serene Annihilation: Witch Hunters Warband - Update 01

After the opening battles of the Serene Annihilation campaign, the warbands have already changed dramatically.  Here is how the Witch Hunters currently stand.

The updated Warrior Priest Jasper Blackthorne.

With the death of Captain Increase Mathers, Warrior Priest Jasper Blackthorne assumed command of the warband (he had Ld 8).  To go along with his new status, I have re-equipped him with a double-handed hammer.

Model-wise, I think he reads a little too "Space Marine-y" but overall I am pleased.  He will probably pull double-duty some day as a Warhammer 40K Ordo Malleus Inquisitor with Daemon-Hammer.

Poor Thelonius can't get a break.  He has been pummeled in almost every combat he's been in.  Striking last with the double-handed hammer proved a huge disadvantage; and with no access to Strength skills, there was no way to overcome it.  So, I gave him a sword and "mace" (the bell) and a helmet.  Now that he has picked up the Dual Wield skill, he will be a much better fighter (I hope).

+++NEW ADDITIONS+++

Nightingale, Elf Ranger Hired Sword promoted to Hero.

Nightingale started out as a hired sword, but with the addition of rules allowing Hired Swords to become Heroes, she was promoted.  She has since become a terror with massive initiative and ballistic skill coupled with Quick Shot.

Of all the models I have made for this campaign, she has surprised me by becoming one of my favorites.  She has feminine features, unlike the androgynous GW models and large ears and colorful hair.  I like her much more than the standard GW elves (aelfs, whatever) because she "reads" as an elf much better than they do... or perhaps I just prefer my elves a little more "anime."

Lantern-Watch, Pumpkinhead Hero.

With the loss of The Hoodsman, I needed a hero to replace him.  I am excited to be trying out a Pumpkinhead in this role - including the rather untested Wraith-Type rules.  Lantern-Watch does not have a shooting weapon like The Hoodsman, but I am hoping he will add some much-needed resilience to my close-combat line.

I am really happy with how Lantern-Watch turned out.  He is tall, creepy and otherworldly.  Just the perfect addition to this dream-like campaign.

Bottlecap, Halfling Scout Hired Sword.

The Halfling Scout is almost a must-have for the Witch Hunter warband.  He gives you another shooter and allows you to expand beyond 12 models - one of the most challenging aspects of the Witch Hunter warband.  And he comes at a dirt-cheap price!

Model-wise I am pleased with this guy as well.  Not my best work, but he definitely looks the part of a grumpy little fellow (must be hungry).
