Why was I not made of stone like thee?
-The Hunchback of Notre Dame, by Victor Hugo
The ceaseless, sprawling, dark glades of the Starlight Forest are many-templed and peopled in lonely places by statues which are not statues: golems. These silent watchers provide roosts for birds and shade for snails - until a magic user passes by. Golems are drawn to magic as a moth is to flame - but unlike moths, they are made of a substance which does not burn. And the stronger the inferno, the more the golem is energized.
